For water intrusion. If you have a leak from upstairs, please try to stop the source. Contact the upstairs neighbor. Shut off water to upstairs possible leak sources.
Wet ceilings. To encourage water drainage, use a screwdriver to punch a hole to allow water to drop into a bucket or container. If not drained, the ceiling becomes wet and heavy, prompting large sheets to drop and collapse. Be sure you are not near electrical wires/outlets when doing so.
